I am hard at work on the first set of Blood of My Blood pages that will be released, aiming to publish them online before Short Run.
In the meantime, here are a few more watercolor sketches of birds. I work digitally to create the final pages of my comics, but there’s something nice about creating with natural media, learning the particulars of how the tools and media respond to different ways of using them, and coming out at the end with a physical object to behold.
Doing these helped me work out getting these soft, detailed effects with watercolor.
Theses smoldering wings turned out great. But then I wanted to achieve a more water-like effect.
So that’s how we got to…erupting water-bird? Amoebird? You pick the name!
